Statement by Prof. Dr. Ute Wardenga, President of the German Society for Geography (DGfG)

With the Geography Connect Convention, we are creating a new, open, and future-oriented forum for the entire geographical community. Our goal is to link scientific exchange more closely with practice-relevant questions, innovative methods, and current societal challenges.

The GCC deliberately focuses on dialogue, collaboration, and visibility: researchers, students, practitioners, and institutions are encouraged to connect, learn from one another, and jointly develop new ideas. This format strengthens geography as an integrative, solution-oriented discipline – and creates a space where ideas can grow and networks can form.
